- Boil the beef in a pot of water until tender. Drain and let cool. Shred the meat into long thin pieces and set aside.
- Process all the spice ingredients in a blender until a fine paste. Heat a pot and add the blended ingredients and stir until fragrant. Add the meat, tamarind juice, coconut milk, ground coriander and lime leaves and stir. Bring to a boil.
- Lower heat and add the sugar and salt and let simmer. Once the liquid has thickened, continue stirring until it becomes dry. Leave to cool and serve with nasi impit.
